COME Download Address and APK Filename: Check Both
Check where the browser went and which file it saved. A familiar filename or logo cannot, by itself, confirm who provided an APK.
Read the address before opening a file
Look at the address bar on the page you have reached, including the spelling of the hostname. A search-result title and the destination hostname can differ. If another page opens, establish why it is part of your intended route before using it.
Connect the file to the browser record
- Open the browser download list on the same phone.
- Find the item with the time of your intended download.
- Confirm the transfer has finished.
- Compare the visible filename and file size with the information shown by that page.
Treat a renamed file as unresolved
A file can be renamed without changing its contents. Adding .apk to a document or a partially downloaded item does not make it an Android installer. Do not rely on a filename that a stranger has told you to change.
Use a practical mismatch note
Write down what you expected, what you received and the page address, without including passwords or account balances. For example: the browser completed a document instead of the Android package described on the page. That observation is more useful than simply saying the download failed.
If the route still looks wrong
Leave the unknown file unopened and return to the intended entry page. Do not cycle through unrelated mirrors looking for a matching name. Device warnings and unexpected app identities are reasons to pause the installation.
